Spring Fever, School, and The Hunger Games

Spring fever is here in full force and I can tell Caroline is starting to be very distracted by the warm weather.  She wants to do all of her homeschooling outside, which isn't fully possible seeing as she needs the desktop Mac to do Algebra, Spanish, and her Learning RX Brain Training.  Frustrating trying to keep her on task right now!   She isn't giving me her full attention and is taking way too many "shortcuts" in her assignments.  Hopefully she will buckle down and study!  Mathnasium tutoring is helping TREMENDOUSLY with her Algebra issues, thank goodness.  I knew we made the right decision to sign up for it, but we are certainly seeing the results confirming our decision to drive her there three times a week. Her Algebra scores have gone from 70s to 90s and she seems a lot more confident overall.

Tonight we are going to the midnight showing of the Hunger Games.  I wasn't going to take her originally to this particular showing but her 14 year old younger sister and I were going by ourselves, then some of her friends joined in, and then Caroline was feeling left out of the latest "teenager" craze.  So we shall see  1.  if she can actually stay awake until it is time to go and 2.  if she has any big negative repercussions tomorrow from staying up that late.  My husband thinks I am crazy to let her do this, but since she went through her whole sixteenth birthday without a single friend to help her celebrate it, I felt that she needed to be allowed to do something that "other" kids get to do.  So I may pay for it tomorrow with her being "off" but she will always remember having a special outing with Mom.

  1. Oops, I actually meant to put this on my own blog. :) But I will leave it here for now. I had no idea you had gone through cancer! Are you oK? My own hormones are out of whack but a doc did recently get me on a thryoid medicaiton which is helping. I am taking Lamictal now also and am quite pleased with the changes it has brought about.

    1. What a great post, thank you, Megan.

Yes, I'm fine. I'm 20+ cancer free! But I still have to go through all the rigorous preventative stuff, you know. Just about to go for my yearly 'stuff'. =)

That's so interesting about your thyroid. I'm thinking of looking into that for myself too. I just haven't been feeling 'right', you know? AT first I thought it was because I've gone vegan and I might be missing vitamins/minerals but I'm feeling it might be more than that since I'm affected emotionally. I"ll keep you posted.

I hope you and your family are well. You're all in my thoughts and prayers. <3
