One of the main focuses in my upcoming novel, Undertow, is the issue of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in military people.
Often these incredibly brave individuals, who are putting their lives on the line for our country, go out on these dangerous and terrifying missions. We can never know the awful things they faced, or the difficulty they have functioning upon their return. Many are unable to cope and commit suicide. I think this is something we need to address and talk about more.
I'm from a military family so this issue touches even more close to home for me. I'm hoping that with my book, and AMAZING articles like this one HERE from The Dana Foundation, we can shed some light on this problem and give these incredible people the resources they, and their families, need.
Feel free to pass this along to others you feel can benefit.
Be sure to come back this weekend as we'll be making another baby step on our path to Wellness Within. =)

Thanks for this, Chynna. This is such an important issue. PTSD and suicide in the military get worse all the time.
ReplyDeleteHi Madeline! How are you? Like with ALL areas of mental health awareness, this is one that needs a bit of the spotlight. We don't realize how tremendously these soldiers are impacted by what they do. I hope this helps a little. =)
